The Chemical Industry Education Centre was founded in 1998 as a joint initiative between the Chemical Industries Association (CIA) and the University of York.

Since its inception CIEC project officers have created over 80 publications for use by teachers and students. They range from books for 5 year olds right the way through schooling to Post-16. Our publications are aimed at showing how the chemical industry touches our lives.

As well as printed publications, the CIEC has also been responsible for several web sites.

The aims of the CIEC are to:

  • enhance the effective teaching of science and technology
  • create enthusiasm in school students and children for science and technology
  • generate an improved level of understanding between schools and science-based industries
  • create a better understanding of the nature and role of science-based industries within society

Children Challenging Industry Project
