CIEC will be giving the following talks at the ASE Conference 2017:
You will receive practical advice and support materials aimed at helping both teachers and children embed the skills of working scientifically in every science lesson.
Come and find out, discuss and explore practical activities on the ‘why, where and how’ of carrying out STEM in the primary classroom and beyond.
STEM is increasing its presence in primary schools, but many still don't know what it is or why schools should get involved. We will explore these issues, outlining the why, where and how, using real curriculum linked practical examples (and many more to take away with you), research findings, and debate during the session.
You will experience some practical ways to engage families with their children's learning, and consider the potential of including parents to raise children's engagement and enjoyment in the short term and their 'science capital' in the long term.
